Most journeys of ours are guided by purpose, summoned by the call of a wedding, a convention, or a familial conclave. But not this time, dear reader. No, this time we indulged in the rarest of expeditions: the unburdened escape.
With no formal mission nor obligation on the docket, we spun the compass and set our sights upon the tranquil shores of Lake George, a jewel nestled in the verdant folds of New York, where time saunters and the breeze minds its own business.
We strolled. We drifted. We let the gears of stress unwind. And just when we thought the journey couldn’t be more charmed, fate twisted the dial, and revealed that my sister resided mere moments from our hotel.
A surprise visit ensued. Smiles were shared. Time, for once, wasn’t on a schedule.
It was precisely what a vacation should be: unscripted, unrushed, and unforgettable.
